Microdermabrasion is a progressive treatment that rejuvenates the skin’s texture and appearance with a chemical free, non-surgical procedure. This procedure is used usually for reducing the signs of aging, acne scarring and sun damaged skin. It is suited to most skin types and can be a safe alternative if you are pregnant.
The skin is exfoliated with a special handheld unit. The unit uses micro-crystals to “sandblast” the skin and remove the dead and dying skin cells. The excessive skin cells that are detached with this process are “vacuumed” from the skin to complete the procedure. The treatment is usually 30-45 minutes. A course of treatments is done progressively over several appointments to maximise results and provide a recovery period for the skin.
The skin will have undergone an intense treatment, so it is important to give your skin time to recover. This means not wearing makeup, moisturisers or perfume for at least 24 hours after the procedure. After the first procedure, reddening of the skin area may also occur. This is very common with most experiencing it within the first 24 hours. Skin Management provides soothing masks to minimise the reactions and provide you with an in-home treatment.
The results are noticeable from the first treatment. Some clients who have used the procedure note that their skin’s texture and appearance is noticeably smoother and “fresher” with the treatments. Scarring takes more treatments than general skin rejuvenation as the damage to the skin is often more intense. Before commencing the procedure, Skin Management will assess your skin and recommend a course of treatment suited to your needs.
